Craigie Hill

Craigie Hill
It being in the springtime
and the small birds they were singing
  Down by yon shady arbour
  I carelessly did stray
  The thrushes they were warbling
  The violets they were charming
  To view fond lovers talking
  a while I did delay
  She said, my dear
don't leave me all for another season
  Though fortune does be pleasing
I 'll go along with you
I 'll forsake friends and relations
  and bid this Irish nation
And to the bonny Bann banks forever I 'll bid adieu
  He said, my dear
  don't grieve
  or yet annoy my patience
You know I love you dearly the more I'm going away
I'm going to a foreign nation
  to purchase a plantation
To comfort us here after all in Amerika
  HO HO HO
  Then after a short while
  a fortune does be pleasing
I'will cause them for smile at our late going away
We'll be happy as Queen Victoria
  all in her greatest glory
We'll be drinking wine and porter all in Amerika
If you were in your bed lying and thinking on dying
The sight of the lovely Bann banks,so your sorrow you'd give over
Or if were down one hour
  down in yon shady bower
  Pleasure would surround you
you'd think on death no more
  Then fare you well
  sweet Cragie Hills
  where often times I've roved
I never thought my childhood days I 'd part you any more
Now we're sailing on the ocean for honour and promotion,
And the bonny boats are sailing, way down by Doorin shore.

something nice

something nice
Almost give it a try
I sure do
I wake up early thinking of you
And I paint my eyes
In light blue
Reflecting every promise I do
There's a brand new note in the middle of this song
I close my eyes and hope that nothing will go wrong

That I'll have something nice
To talk about while I'm walking home
Have something nice to talk about
While I'm walking home

Almost wondering why
You want me
Sometimes I think you're better off on your own
When I make you cry
Over me
I almost want to leave you alone
But when I wake up in the middle of the night
And when I sometimes suddenly remember your smile

And to have something nice
To talk about while I'm walking home
To have something nice to talk about
While I'm walking home

the Rose

the Rose
some say love
it is a river
that drowns tender reed
some say love
it is a razor
that leaves your soul to bleed
some say love
it is a hunger,
that endless aching need
i say love
it is a flower
and you it's only seed

it's the heart afriad of breaking
that never learns to dance
it's the dream afriad of waking
that never takes the chance
it's the one who won't be taken
who can not seem to give
and the soul afraid of dying
that never learns to live

when the night has been too lonely
and the road has been too long
and you think
that love is not only for the lucky and the strong
just remember in the winter
far beneath the bitter snow
lies the seed
that with the sun's love
in the spring becomes the rose
